چکیده

We report the realization of a silicon three-dimensional photonic crystal nanocavity containing self-assembled germanium-island emitters. The three-dimensional woodpile photonic crystal was assembled layer by layer by micromanipulation using silicon plates grown by molecular beam epitaxy. An optical nanocavity was formed in the center of the photonic crystal by introducing a point defect into one of the plates. Measurements of the filtered spontaneous emission from the Ge islands in the active plate through the localized modes of the structure directly reveal information on the evolution 5 These authors contributed equally to this work. 6 Authors to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Enhancement of Light Emission from Silicon by Utilizing Photonic Nanostructures

Efficient silicon-based light sources are expected to be key devices for applications such as optical interconnection. Huge number of researches has been conducted for realizing silicon-based light sources. Most of them utilized silicon-related materials such as silicon nanostructures or germanium, not crystalline silicon, which has been considered as a poor light emitter because of its indirec...

Enhanced light-matter interaction in atomically thin MoS2 coupled with 1D photonic crystal nanocavity.

Engineering the surrounding electromagnetic environment of light emitters by photonic engineering, e.g. photonic crystal cavity, can dramatically enhance its spontaneous emission rate through the Purcell effect. Here we report an enhanced spontaneous emission rate of monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) by coupling it to a 1D silicon nitride photonic crystal. A four times stronger photolumines...

Optical nanomechanical sensor using a silicon photonic crystal cantilever embedded with a nanocavity resonator.

We present in-depth discussion of the design and optimization of a nanomechanical sensor using a silicon cantilever comprising a two-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) nanocavity resonator arranged in a U-shaped silicon PC waveguide. For example, the minimum detectable strain, vertical deflection at the cantilever end, and force load are observed as 0.0133%, 0.37 mum, and 0.0625 muN, respectivel...

Photonic crystal horizontally slotted nanobeam cavity for silicon-based nanolasers.

We theoretically propose and investigate a TM-polarized one-dimensional photonic crystal nanocavity with a horizontal SiO2 slot on a suspended silicon nanobeam via the three-dimensional finite-element method. The ultrahigh quality factor and ultrasmall effective mode volume of 1.5×10(7) and 0.176 half-wavelength cubic of the horizontally SiO2-slotted nanocavity show strong possibilities for rea...
